Government review of content regulation release Following a Press Club speech by Communications Minister Helen Coonan, the Government has released its “Review of the Regulation of Content Delivered Over Convergent Devices”. AMTA is assessing the implications of the review and will be promoting a final outcome that features the use of industry codes and light touch regulation. |

GSM adds a billion connections in 30 months The number of global GSM subscribers will this month pass the two billion mark according to its global association. The GSM Association (GSMA) says subscriptions to the GSM network worldwide are expected to reach two billion only two and a half years after the one billion mark was reached. |

Mobile Phone Viruses article The Age this week reported on the threat of mobile phone viruses. The article quoted Mikko Hypponen, director of anti-virus research at Finnish-based F-Secure Corp, who said mobile phones are fertile territory for cyber criminals to harvest millions from the unsuspecting. |
