Telecommunications Summit
AMTA CEO Chris Althaus chaired Day Two of the annual Telecommunications Summit in Sydney this week. In introducing Chris Chapman - Chairman and CEO of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), Mr Althaus spoke of the good working relationship the mobile telecommunications industry has with the Authority.

The next AMTA Networking Forum will be held in Melbourne on Thursday 24 August between 4.30-6.30pm. Mr John Pinnock, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, will discuss the complaints received in relation to mobiles, issues concerning mobile premium services and the new challenges as convergence gathers momentum.
PM's XI Cricket v England
AMTA will host Members and Government Officials at a Marquee at the PM's XI cricket match against England on Friday 10 November 2006. Staged at historic Manuka Oval, Canberra, this occasion provides a unique networking opportunity for members to mix with senior officials and advisers from a range of portfolios, as well as the national media, in an informal atmosphere.
3G revenue passes $1billion
Revenue from Third Generation (3G) mobile services in Australia has passed $1billion because of high service demands, Australian IT reported this week.
Westpac & Telstra Join forces to Muster Mobiles
More than 12,000 Westpac staff in 17 corporate offices across Australia will take part in a muster to recycle their old mobile phones, batteries and accessories. The month-long MobileMuster initiative begins on August 1. The event is being strongly supported by Westpac’s mobile phone provider, Telstra.
AMTA’s Mobile Telecommunications Conference 2006
The CEO Forum will provide one of the highlights for AMTA's Mobile Telecommunications Conference 2006. The Forum brings together the CEOs/Managing Directors of the four carriers to discuss the latest industry developments.
US Video and TV use on phone set to explode
A recent study has found the number of mobile phone subscribers in the US is expected to treble over the next four years, with data services predicted to explode in popularity.
