Whole-of-Industry View on Interception Bill
AMTA has been heavily involved with the Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) in providing industry perspectives on the draft Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Amendment Bill 2007 (the draft Bill) currently being considered as the next stage of the Blunn Review reform package.
Be on guard against messages from numbers you don’t recognise
“Check before you reply”. That is the message from AMTA to people who receive text messages from numbers they do not recognize.
False driving claim could undermine road safety campaign
False claims that driving while using a mobile phone is as dangerous as drink driving could undermine safety campaigns by reducing the stigma of driving while drunk, AMTA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Althaus, said in a published letter in a Melbourne newspaper.
US study finds no interference from mobile phones with hospital medical equipment
Tests in the United States have found that the use of mobile phones in hospitals did not interfere with medical devices, according to the Mayo Clinic’s findings of 300 tests of 192 medical devices.
Figures released for February’s handset shipments to Australia
More than 430,000 mobile phone handset were shipped to Australia during February, according to the latest industry shipment figures.
Price is a driving factor for “switchers” says UK mobile study
Cellular-news reports that a survey conducted by the UK based, Retail Eyes, has revealed the most important reason UK residents change mobile phone carriers is because a better tariff is available. Significantly for retailers though, nearly one-in-ten switch carriers due to bad customer service.
Public holiday in Canberra on Monday
The AMTA office in Canberra will be closed on Monday (March 19) because it is a public holiday in the Australian Capital Territory.
