AMTA acknowledges Minister’s positive role on content services legislation
AMTA Chief Executive Officer Chris Althaus, speaking at a mobile content conference in Sydney this week, acknowledged the Federal Government’s preparedness to work co-operatively with the industry on achieving workable content services legislation.
Tasmanian Environment Minister takes lead on mobile phone recycling
The Tasmanian Environment Minister has taken the lead on mobile phone recycling by becoming the first State Environment Minister to have their department sign up with MobileMuster and offer recycling services to the public.
ACMA calls for comment on Do Not Call Register access fee options
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has released a discussion paper on the fees telemarketers will be charged to access the Do Not Call Register. This is another important step in the development of the register which is due to commence in May 2007.
Exploding petrol stations exposed as a mobile myth
Mobile phones do not cause petrol stations to explode. There is no evidence that a mobile phone has ever caused an explosion at a petrol station anywhere in the world, AMTA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Althaus, told radio MMM.

The Commonwealth Bank is offering more than 2.3 million customers access to free SMS authentication as the Bank begins the final phase in its two-factor authentication program for internet banking service, NetBank.
Ten, nine, eight…..mobile base station lift-off
London is planning to invest in sending a satellite into space to cut out the need for mobile phone masts and possibly monitor motorists from space, local authorities confirmed this week, according to a report in the GSM Association’s newsletter.
