AMTA appears before Senate Committee today on Content Services Bill
AMTA strongly agrees with the Federal Government that appropriate safeguards must be in place to ensure children are protected from exposure to material that may be offensive or harmful, a Senate Committee was told today. AMTA appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on the Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
AMTA attends Liberal Party Federal Council meeting
AMTA will be represented at this weekend’s Liberal Party Federal Council meeting in Sydney. AMTA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Althaus, is attending the meeting today, tomorrow and Sunday as a business observer.
New toolkit aids teachers and students with mobile phone recycling
MobileMuster, the national recycling program of the mobile phone industry, has officially launched its online education kit for primary and secondary schools to assist young Australians in protecting our environment by recycling their old mobile phone, batteries and accessories.
Do Not Call Register hits the one million mark
More than one million telephone numbers have been listed on the Do Not Call Register which came into effect at midnight on Wednesday, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, announced yesterday.
Hands-free not a guarantee of safety in all driving conditions
Do not engage in emotional conversations on your hands-free mobile phone while driving, the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association is urging, reported the Border Mail newspaper this week.

Minister warns against potential Do Not Call Scams
The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, today warned consumers about potential unscrupulous door knocking scams where people were asked for money in return for being listed on the Do Not Call Register.
