Safety is the most important call drivers can make
The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) welcomes the certainty that has been restored over the use of legal hands-free mobile phones by drivers in South Australia and reminds drivers using a hands-free is not a guarantee of safety on the roads. AMTA is pleased that hands-free is no longer illegal in South Australia.
AMTA members get access to industry study preview
Access Economics will give a presentation at the next AMTA Members Forum in Sydney on Thursday, June 14. The presentation by Access Economics’ senior economist Dr Kris Funston will give Members an insight into the preparation of an analysis of the benefits of the mobile telecommunications industry to the Australian economy.
Telco Executives call on businesses to recycle old mobiles this World Environment Day
Telco executives joined forces to call on all Australian businesses to recycle their company’s stockpiles of old mobile phones, batteries and accessories this World Environment Day 5 June 2007 and in return the telecommunications industry, in partnership with Landcare Australia, will plant a tree for every handset that is handed in for recycling by the end of June as part of its “Old Phones New Trees” campaign.
Pre-paids rise from mobile's budget bin
Once the accessory of budget-conscious teenagers, the pre-paid mobile phone will soon make up half our mobile market. And a new range of suppliers are capitalizing on the shift, with deals designed to take business away from the major outfits, reports today’s Daily Telegraph.
Mobile shipments near the 3 million mark to May
The official Informark industry figures for mobile phone shipments recorded more than 742,000 shipments of handsets in May 2007 taking the total for the first five months of the year to nearly 3 million.
MobileMuster and MCF active at NSW Shires Association Conference.
Shires and local councils are an important partner of MobileMuster in providing communities with simple, easy and free access to mobile phone recycling. Forty out of the 152 councils and shires across NSW have joined the MobileMuster program.
Young Scottish mother says mobile phone is a life saver
A young Scottish mother was saved from a life-threatening condition after using a mobile phone to send pictures of her swollen legs to a doctor, the Edinburgh News reported this week.
