Mobile phone industry welcomes RMIT test results on base stations
The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) welcomed yesterday’s RMIT test results that show EME levels inside the Bourke Street building are many thousands of times below Australia’s safety standard. “People working and living near mobile phone base stations can be very confident they operate well within Australian safety standards,” AMTA CEO Chris Althaus said.
WHO issues new fact sheet on mobile phone base stations and public health issues
The World Health Organisation (WHO) late yesterday issued its new fact sheet on public health issues related to mobile phone base stations and wireless technologies.
ATSB report on attitudes to road safety
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) this week released the latest findings on community attitudes to road safety. Wave 18 of the program monitors attitudes related to a variety of road safety issues, with particular reference to mobile phone use while driving.
Toyota uses AMTA driving tips for fleet safety
Toyota Australia is using the AMTA safe driving tips in the development of a fleet safety manual. Toyota advised last week that they had found the AMTA driving tips to be a very practical guide on driving and the safe use of mobile phones and it would refer to them in the safety manual for fleet owners.
AMTA submission to Treasury on TPA
AMTA has provided a submission to Treasury regarding proposed changes to the Trade Practices Act (TPA) relating to component pricing. The legislation will require companies to refer to a ‘total minimum price’ when advertising products and services.
Final chance for dotMobi registration
AMTA members’ unique opportunity to register and secure a dotMobi domain name in the “Limited Industry Sunrise” period has finished. This period led to considerable interest from AMTA members and other mobile telecommunications associations worldwide.
Do Not Call Register legislation introduced
The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts this week announced the introduction of the Do Not Call Register legislation which prohibits telemarketers contacting numbers on the Register.
AMTA's Annual Telecommunications Conference 2006
AMTA’s Annual Telecommunications Conference 2006 will be held on 20-21 September at the Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour. This year’s Conference will again feature the highly successful carrier CEO roundtable where the industry leaders will discuss a range of issues facing the mobile telecommunications industry.
