Minister opens AMTA?s Technology Showcase at Parliament House
The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, launched AMTA?s new publication, Staying Connected, at AMTA?s Technology Showcase at Parliament House, Canberra, on Wednesday evening. AMTA?s Members exhibited their latest mobile telecommunications technology at the Showcase, giving MPs and Senators an opportunity to experience first hand their equipment?s capabilities.

A report in the Daily Telegraph says greater use of 3G mobile technology is set to boost economic output by billions of dollars over the next few years, a leading economic forecaster says.
Worldwide mobile subscriptions to reach 5.6 billion by 2013
Cellular News reports that worldwide mobile subscriptions will rise from 3.9 billion in 2008 to 5.6 billion in 2013, according to a new Strategy Analytics report. Discounting for people with more than one subscription, more than half of the world?s population will be using mobile phones by early 2010, up from 40% at the start of this year.
