Mobile technologies' expanding horizons into more sectors of economy and society
Both Prime Minister Rudd and Communications Minister Conroy have regularly confirmed the Australian Government?s commitment to a ?digital revolution?. To this end mobile telecommunications including mobile broadband will be central to the future of a digital economy as the reach of mobile technologies and services extends into most sectors of the economy and society. It is clear that health and education sectors are set to join media, entertainment, personal / business communications and social networking as key new horizons for mobile technologies and services.
Mobile phones make headway in education
In yet another expanding application of the use of mobile phones, the education sector is starting to use mobile phones in the classroom as a valuable learning tool, reports Business Week. Cell phones have long been anathema in the classroom, banned as a potential distraction, at best, and as a possible vehicle for cheating, at worst. But lately, educators have begun changing their tune on mobile phones.
