AMTA mobile phone use policy

The National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP), which provides a network for businesses to develop road safety strategies in the workplace, has highlighted the mobile phone use policy of the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA).

The NRSPP has featured AMTA’s mobile phone use policy for vehicles as part of its “Thought Leadership” program that provides resources for companies to share knowledge of how to reduce road-related trauma and improve road safety.

The network was started by the National Transport Commission (NTC) in 2011 with its engagement with businesses for a national collaborative programme on road safety.

The AMTA road use policy outlines its efforts on behalf of its members, which include Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, to promote a policy of compliance with Australia’s driving laws based on education and awareness and provides practical advice to drivers on how to minimise distraction risks.
