In an ongoing commitment to better waste management and resource recovery, the Australian Parliament has joined MobileMuster and will be calling on members and parliamentary staff to round up and hand in their old mobiles including batteries, chargers and accessories during the current sitting periods.
With more than 3,500 people in the Australian Parliament on sitting days, there are bound to be lots of old mobiles lying around in cupboards and drawers at work and home ready for recycling. The muster is being led by the Parliamentary Services Department, which is setting up a number of permanent collection points in the house, including the Press Gallery.
Members are also being encouraged to take the message back to their electorates and constituents. Currently 23 members of the Victorian Parliament host MobileMuster collection points in their local electorate offices. |
