MobileMuster is inviting AMTA members to get behind this year’s Old Phones More Trees campaign, by encouraging staff and customers to recycle their old mobile phones, batteries, chargers and accessories with MobileMuster between 1 May and 5th June, World Environment Day. A tree will be planted by Landcare Australia for every kilogram of old mobiles collected.
This year MobileMuster and Landcare Australia are aiming to plant 30,000 trees across Australia. Trees will be planted in the rainforests of far north Queensland, the river red gum forests and wetlands along the River Murray in NSW, Victoria and SA, and the mallee regions in WA to restore precious wildlife habitats and to stem the tide of dryland salinity. Each of these regions are crucial to maintaining Australia’s biodiversity and feeding our growing population.
Since the program started in June 2007 more than 200,000 trees have been planted and over 90 tonnes of mobile phones, batteries, chargers and accessories diverted from landfill and recycled.
MobileMuster can provide a variety of resources to help you promote the recycling message to staff and customers including staff email templates, website banners and buttons, posters, collection boxes and a free pick up service.
To get involved simply register with MobileMuster at www.mobilemuster.com.au or contact the MobileMuster team at mobilemuster@amta.org.au or 1300 730 070
