Registrations have now closed and schools across Australia are collecting for the “I can do that” MobileMuster National Schools Recycling Challenge.
The challenge again sees MobileMuster partnering with Landcare Australia. For every 30kg of recycled mobile phones, batteries, chargers and accessories collected $100 will be donated to help to restore a bandicoot’s habitat. This will include tree planting and predator proof fencing, as well as creating community awareness.
The challenge is to collect 3,000kgs nationally of mobile phones and accessories by the end of National Recycling Week. If schools can achieve that it will help to restore the habitat of approximately 100 bandicoots.
Schools have registered from all states, ranging in size from Centenary Heights State School Toowoomba, Queensland (1800 students) to Rockley Public School in NSW (with just 9 students).
Almost 110,000 students and their families will be striving to round up their old, unused mobiles to help do their bit for the environment, help endangered bandicoots and maybe even win great prizes for their school and themselves.
Schools will have to book their pick-up for their MobileMuster collection by November 20th to contribute to the challenge.
