"With many schools just back from holidays the closing date to register for MobileMuster's ‘I can do that’ Schools Recycling Challenge has been extended to 26 October", said Rose Read, Manager Recycling
"It is a great activity for schools to do for National Recycling Week which runs from 8-12 November 2009.
"As an added incentive, MobileMuster will donate $100 for every 30kg received to help Landcare Australia groups protect and restore bandicoot habitats in South Australia. Plus there are some great prizes for schools and students to win.
"We are aiming to collect at least 3,000 kg of phones so we can protect about 100 bandicoot habitats. Originally there were eleven species of bandicoots found in Australia, but three are now extinct and another three are highly endangered! So protecting their habitats with fencing and planting trees and shrubs will go a long way to preventing future extinctions.”
