Dr Rhonda Galbally AO and Chair of the National People with Disabilities and Carer Council addressed a packed National Press Club on the SHUT OUT report this week.
Shut Out, the result of an extensive Australia-wide consultation, provides the first comprehensive picture of what contemporary life is like for Australians with a disability and their families. The report , which is alive with the voices and stories of hundreds of Australians, recommends major Government Policy reform for whole-of-government, whole-of-life National Disability Strategy in Australia, including a national, no fault insurance scheme to maximise independence and opportunities for all Australians with disability, whether by birth, by accident or illness.
AMTA supports this holistic approach to the provision of access to mobiles for Australians with Disability.
