AMTA was represented at this week’s NSW Local Government Association Annual Conference in Broken Hill with the Mobile Carriers Forum and Mobilemuster showcasing to more than 500 local government representatives.
The Conference provided a great opportunity to access Council leaders and recently elected councillors. MobileMuster and the MCF spoke to councillors about the industry’s priorities and the important relationship between the Industry and NSW Councils and Shires. This includes the management of community consultation and the approval process for new mobile network towers and antennas, environmental initiatives such as MobileMuster and the social and economic benefits of the technology that are becoming increasingly important in local communities.
MCF Program Manager Matt Evans spoke of the MCF’s work in developing standardised processes with these local Councils in order to improve the siting and design of new mobile network facilities in local communities. “Councils provide local knowledge which can be critical to the success of achieving development approval for mobile network infrastructure. We’ve been encouraging NSW Councils to assist us by adding value during the development application process for new towers in areas where we need to provide coverage” he said.
