After more than six years working for Motorola Mobile Devices, and four years at the helm as Managing Director for South Pacific region, Andrew Volard has resigned to pursue new challenges. Mr Volard has also resigned from his position of Deputy Chair of AMTA, where he served for more than 2.5 years.
AMTA CEO Chris Althaus described Mr Volard as an AMTA stalwart, who recognised the key role of the industry’s peak group and the critical need for unity and co-ordinated action in representing the industry on key policy issues. Mr Volard actively promoted social responsibility in the use of mobile phones, including AMTA’s health and safety programs, advocated driver education and awareness when using mobiles in vehicles as well as being a strong supporter of AMTA’s world-leading recycling program, MobileMuster.
“On behalf of the Board and staff, AMTA acknowledges and thanks Andrew Volard for his contribution to the organisation and the industry,” Mr Alhaus said.
Motorola has advised that, Laura Stier, Vice President – Operator Sales, Motorola Mobile Devices Asia, will assume the role of Acting Managing Director, Mobile Devices, Motorola South Pacific, until a replacement is found.
