Mobile phone handset shipment figures for Australia have held up well during the first four months of this year, according to the latest industry figures.

Figures for April 2009 show there were 965,296 shipments, which was 3.9% up on the corresponding month in 2008. In the first four months of 2009 there were 2.806 million handsets shipments.

The handset shipment figures are not the same as mobile phone sales figures.

This was a 1.7% increase compared to four-month period in 2008. The figures can be viewed at: /default.asp?Page=184
