The mobile telecommunications industry in Australia learned today that Ken Joyner of Motorola is leaving his position as Director of Global Regulatory Affairs after 12 years.
Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association Chief Executive Officer, Chris Althaus, said Dr Joyner’s departure from Motorola is a huge loss to the mobile telecommunications industry because of his standing and expertise.
Dr Joyner is the Chair of AMTA’s Health and Safety Committee, which informs the public of health information related to electromagnetic energy and the use of mobile phones. He is also a member of AMTA’s Policy and Strategy Steering Committee and Accessibility Committee.
Mr Althaus said: “Dr Joyner’s contribution to AMTA has been enormous over a long period. His reputation and the esteem in which he is held by his colleagues, peers and industry stakeholders is of the highest order and his presence will be greatly missed.
“ In acknowledging this news can I wish Dr Joyner the very best and thank him for his leadership, guidance and the total professionalism he has shown us all.
Dr Joyner, who also worked with Telstra from 1985-97, said he is looking for new opportunities to work in the telecommunications industry.
“It has been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to work with each of you and I wish you the very best of luck in the future,” he said.
