He’s back! Milton from MobileMuster is starring on a screen near you

The walking, talking Milton – MobileMuster’s little ambassador – is back on your television screens on Sunday for two weeks in a new awareness campaign in the lead-up to the Christmas rush of gift buying of new mobile phones.

Milton will urge viewers to “Round ‘em up and hand ‘em in” by going to their cupboards and drawers, where there are an estimated 16 million old mobile phones lying around in people’s homes and workplaces. About four million of these old mobiles no longer work and are of no use to anyone.

AMTA’s Manager of Recycling, Rose Read, said the campaign would also include radio advertisements. “The facts are three out of four people have at least one old unused mobile phone at home. Nearly four out of 10 people have at least two or more old unused mobile phones at home that could be recycled.

“Milton is encouraging people to think about the environment when making their Christmas purchase of new phones and to consider recycling their old handsets.

“MobileMuster can recover over 90 per cent of the materials found in mobile phones and accessories and produce new items including jewellery, stainless steel products and plastic fence posts. This helps conserve natural resources, avoids greenhouse gas emissions and protects our environment from potentially harmful materials.

"Milton is informing viewers that they can do their bit to help save their environment by rounding up all their old mobile phones, batteries and accessories.”
