It's official! MobileMuster officially holds the Guinness World Record for the largest donation of used mobile phones in 24 hours

MobileMuster officially holds the Guinness World Record for the largest donation of used mobile phones in 24 hours with 2,590 mobile phones.

On Saturday 31 May, the Guinness World Record attempt was held simultaneously across Westfield shopping centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Consumers were encouraged to bring their old mobile phone(s), batteries and accessories for recycling, and all had the opportunity to meet their favourite celebrities and receive a $10 Westfield voucher. During the one-hour attempt, a record 2,590 handsets were handed in for recycling, and also included a number of batteries, chargers and accessories. The event was part of MobileMuster's 'Old Phones, More Trees' campaign, where consumers were encouraged to hand in an old phone for recycling during May to June 5 (World Environment Day), and for every handset recycled, a native tree would be planted in conjunction with Landcare Australia.
