With the growing use of social networking as a medium to communicate and engage younger people, Milton the MobileMuster mascot has created his own Facebook page.
Milton MobileMuster has been inviting participating mobile phone retailers, schools, businesses and local councils and their friends to be his friend so they can get the latest news on recycling incentives, promotions and network with other participants. Those who join by the end of January go in the draw to win a Wall-E DVD.
Friends are encouraged to upload photos of recycling activities to share with friends, post tips on how to encourage customers, staff and local communities to recycle their old mobile phones, promote local sustainability events, find out what happens to mobile phones once they have been recycled and the many environmental benefits.
“Milton’s Facebook page is all about connecting with younger and like-minded people in a less formal and more social way. Milton has also established his own Kiss Your Old Mobile Phone Goodbye group and will be promoting events and incentives throughout the year, ” said Rose Read, AMTA’s Manager for Recycling.
Why not become a friend of Milton – just look up Milton MobileMuster on Facebook or email milton@amta.org.au and help spread the word.
