MobileMuster featured on international MOBILEpodcast

AMTA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Althaus, has been interviewed for a podcast on the MobileMuster recycling program. The MOBILEpodcast series is a joint initiative of the Mobile Manufacturers Forum (MMF) and the GSM Association (GSMA).

The MMF is an international association of telecommunications equipment manufacturers with an interest in mobile or wireless communications. Established in 1998, the association mission is to facilitate joint funding of key research projects and cooperation on standards, regulatory issues and communications concerning the safety of wireless technology, accessibility and environmental issues. www.mmfai.org

The GSM Association (GSMA) is a global trade association representing more than 750 GSM mobile phone operators across 218 territories and countries of the world. In addition, more than 180 manufacturers and suppliers support the Association's initiatives as associate members.

Founded in 1987 the primary goals of the GSMA are to ensure mobile phones and wireless services work globally and are easily accessible, enhancing their value to individual customers and national economies, while creating new business opportunities for operators and their suppliers.  www.gsmworld.com

Mr Althaus said MobileMuster, the official recycling program of the Australian mobile telecommunications industry, is AMTA’s primary commitment to an environmentally sustainable industry, which minimises the use of resources through product stewardship, including recycling.

“It is the only industry-wide program for electronic waste offering free recycling for all mobile phone brands in Australia. It is believed to be the only such scheme in the world,” he said.
