New CEO for AMTA

The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.

The Chair of AMTA, Holly Kramer, announced that the Board had appointed Chris Althaus to replace Graham Chalker, who is retiring after three years in the position.

Mr Althaus has been the Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association since January 2002. He has extensive experience with industry associations. Before joining the Australian Trucking Association, he was the National Director of Timber Communities Australia Ltd – a national group with a regional network of 80 branches and a membership of more than 12,000.

Ms Kramer said: “The AMTA Board is very pleased to have someone of Chris Althaus’ experience as our new CEO. “He has a strong background of representation of major industries and we look forward to Mr Althaus joining us early next year.

“Under Mr Althaus, AMTA will continue to focus on a range of issues that affect the industry and the wider community, to ensure effective industry representation and leadership and to promote an understanding of the mobile phone industry and its contribution to the Australian community.

“I would like to thank Graham Chalker for his substantial and significant contribution to AMTA over the past three years and wish him well in his retirement.”
