Other Information and Consumer Tips for People with Disabilities

Making mobile devices more accessible to all.

The Global Accessibility Reporting Initiative (GARI) project was developed to provide a central information source to learn about accessibility in mobile devices.

On this website you can learn about the various features that a phone may have and link through to manufacturers’ websites for specific information on particular models. Visit GARI here.

Vodafone has recently launched an online accessibility centre. Click here to view the website.

There is an estimated 600 million people worldwide who have a recognised disabiltiy and others with needs for improved accessibility, in the areas of vision, hearing, speech, mobilitiy, cognition, or old age. Nokia, a member of AMTA, has developed an Accessiblity Guide booklet which aims to help consumers with a disability and  mobile phone retailers work together to find accessible and appropriate mobile phones.

AMTA publishes a range of fact sheets and consumer tips. For more information go to our Consumer Tips page.
