Visitors to the Going Green Expo 2008, which will open at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on World Environment Day, Thursday 5 June, 2008 can help make a real difference to the environment by handing in their old mobile phones for recycling. As part of MobileMuster’s and Landcare Australia’s “Old Phones, More Trees” campaign, a native Australian tree will be planted for every mobile phone that is recycled.

Event Manager, Anthony Doran, said of the expo’s support for the program: “The Going Green Expo is pleased to be able to support this significant program by offering visitors who come along and hand in an old mobile phone a $3 discount off their entry fee.”

Recycling tubes will be placed at the ticket booths at the front of Going Green. Information about what happens to old mobile phones when they are recycled will be available at the MobileMuster stand in the Green IT section of the expo.

The Going Green Expo will showcase a range of products and solutions from recycling and waste, air quality, water conservation, carbon trading and offset programs to cleaning, clothing, textiles, building design, food & beverage, health and beauty, office supplies, organic produce, and green IT.

Expo highlights include: “The Green Village Pavilion” sponsored by Village Green; “Go Organic” food, wine and beer; the Green ICT Innovations feature sponsored by the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development; and free seminars from industry experts and much, much more

The Going Green Expo program aims to recycle at least 1000 mobile phones – which will lead to the planting of 1000 native trees in Victoria.
