Mobile phone shipments to Australia are holding up well this year despite uncertain economic conditions with more than 1.3 million handsets shipped in the month of October, according to Informark industry figures.

There were 1,346,696 handsets shipped to Australia in October – the second highest monthly figure on record behind last year’s record monthly shipment of 1,493,890 in October 2007.

For the 10 months to October this year there were 7,370,306 shipments to Australia, which was only 2.8% lower than the corresponding period for 2007. Last year, there were a record 9.28 million handsets shipments to Australia.
