Victorian MPs join the Muster and open their electoral offices to collect mobile phones for recycling

The Victorian Minister of Environment, the Hon. Gavin Jennings MLC has written to all 128 members of parliament encouraging them allow their offices to become collection points for MobileMuster.

As a result eight members have already signed up this week to make recycling more accessible for their constituents. These include : Bob Stensholt MP, Ann Barker MP, Colin Brooks MP, Craig Ingram MP, Janice Munt MP, Ryan Smith MP, Denis Napthine MP, Richard Wynne MP, Johan Sheffer MP, Maxine Morand MP, Bronwyn Pike MP and Russell Northe MLA.

Victorian MPs already participating in MobileMuster are Alistair Harkness MP who was behind the push to get MPs involved in MobileMuster and Martin Dixon MP.

“Many of the members’ electoral offices are located in areas where there are no existing collection points, making recycling even easier for mobile phone users” said Rose Read, Recycling Manager with AMTA.

“The other bonus of having MPs promoting and collecting mobile phones is that MobileMuster’s recycling message is being spread far and wide across Victoria”, added Ms Read.

A number of state government agencies and Victorian Police Stations also participate in the program. One of the more recently established locations is The Urban Workshop at 50 Lonsdale St in Melbourne where Sustainability Victoria is housed.
