There is sometimes media speculation suggesting a possible link between mobile phones and cancer, base stations and cancer clusters. This can raise public concern, however, it is important to look at all of the available scientific evidence when making heath risk assessments and not jump to conclusions.
The World Health Organization and other health agencies conduct ongoing reviews into mobile phones, base stations and health looking at all of the available scientific research. In relation to radio frequency emissions and health, the general conclusion from the World Health Organization (WHO) is:
“Despite extensive research, to date there is no evidence to conclude that exposure to low level electromagnetic fields is harmful to human health”
The World Cancer Report published at the end of 2008 concluded for mobiles and cancer risk:
"With reference to radio frequency, available data do not show any excess risk of brain cancer and other neoplasms associated with the use of mobile phones"
The EMF Explained Series features a section dedicated to Cancer claims looking at the research and what is known for mobiles and base stations.
