To celebrate World Environment Day this year, MobileMuster in partnership with Landcare Australia will plant a native tree for every kilogram of mobile phones sent in to MobileMuster as part of the Old Phones More Trees campaign. One of this year’s projects will be restoring precious habitat for Koala’s in Victoria.
So clean out those cupboards and drawers at home and work and take them down to your local Nokia Care or Motorola One Service centre or your nearest Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, 3, Virgin Mobile, Allphones, Crazy Johns, Fone Zone store next week. Alternatively you can pick up a reply paid recycling satchel from participating Australia Post outlets or download a free post mailing label from www.mobilemuster.com.au.
Over the past two year 175,000 trees have been planted across Australia to repair and restore degraded landscapes as a result of MobileMuster and Landcare Australia’s Old Phones More Trees campaign. This year MobileMuster is aiming to collect enough phones so a further 25,000 trees can be planted to help restore vital habitats for Koalas so they can escape future bushfires in Victoria, as well as restore important Cumberland Woodlands in NSW.
To find your nearest collection point visit www.mobilemuster.com.au and simply enter your suburb or postcode.
Do it now, you will not only make a Koala happy, but you will be helping to avoid future greenhouse gases by enabling 90% of the materials in your old mobiles to be recovered and used to make plastic fence posts, jewellery, stainless steel and batteries.
