Mobiles a key driver of productivity

Chris Althaus 2008 AMTA has told a Parliamentary inquiry into raising productivity growth that the mobile telecommunications industry has a pivotal role to play in helping to boost Australia’s productivity performance. AMTA has made a submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics' inquiry into raising the level of productivity growth in the Australian economy.

MCF escalates Queensland council DA fees issue to Minister

In April this year the Mobile Carriers Forum (MCF) launched an investigation into local government development application fees for telecommunications towers in Queensland following reports from MCF members that the Sunshine Coast Regional Council was charging carriers $20,000 – just for the right to apply for development approval.

Old phones new trees

The recycling partnership between MobileMuster, the mobile telecommunication industry’s official recycling program, and Landcare Australia has resulted in a pledge to plant 200,000 trees.

Cellphone ban for drivers in NZ

Sales of hands free kits for mobile phone users are likely to rise as a result of the government bringing a ban in on 1st November this year. The ban extends to all use of hand held mobile phones whether texting or calling, with the exception of 111 calls for genuine emergencies, Business to Business reports in Auckland this week.
